Youthful leaders? Give me a break

Youth and the youthful are raising up and fighting for their change in the global arena, I was deeply troubled by the article that appeared in The Standard about the KTN show that depicted youths as a bunch of ‘emotional” , unfocused characters who do not know what they want. The writer of the article is wrong for equating of the young people who want to start to take their future in the hands to tribalists. There is a big difference between someone who incites other tribes against others. The young leaders who are asking the youth to realize their importance in the future in Kenya are not doing this for egocentric purposes and I do not think it is about the pay either. We have seen the success in France where the youth were about to marginalized by a law that would see them being fired easier than their more mature colleagues. When the youth banded together and raised one voice about their qualms with the law, the Prime Minster and president of France had to renege on a the law that had proved that unpopular.Their other examples of youthful leader’s across the global especially in South America where the young have taken over the governments and have turned the governments into success stories, read Brazil. The writer also claims that the NARC government was voted in by the youth, gullible as they might be “emotional” bottom line is the people who were voted into the government were not young people, in fact with the realization that the current crop of politicians has brought is that we cannot trust anyone who is not considering Kenya’s future. It is high time that we see such programming in the media; this should be a challenge for the media houses to see that they start addressing the new desires of the young in determining their future.

the problem with the young people in kenya is that it takes them forever to be in power. The writer of the article should take into acct that we do not have any represntation in the NARC government, where as he put we "Chanted" them into power
